Struggles

Dearest daughter,

There will be times during your life when you are faced with what appears to be an insurmountable task.  This is a guarantee.  We all face challenges.  The key is to look at what you have been presented with an open mind and to have a positive outlook.  Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the situation that we forget that there is a much bigger picture and so much more to this life than the situation we are currently in.  Sometimes we think this situation will never change or that we are doomed to mediocrity or deserve to be punished.

Let me encourage you.  This too shall pass.  God will give you the strength to make it through. He won’t do it overnight and sometimes his strength is shown in what others may see as weak “vessels.”  But God is so good to give us what we need to keep on going and He does it so subtly that sometimes we don’t realize how much we are growing in strength, wisdom and character until much time and pain is endured.

I remember how much I waffled around trying to figure out what I would do when my entire world “fell apart” after my divorce.  I tried all sorts of employment and found myself knocking on doors I never would have imagined myself knocking on:  I was a grant writer, a mover, a tutor, a riding lesson instructor, a Realtor, an ESL Teacher and in my heart, a writer.

Looking back, I can see God’s hand guiding me through the myriad of ideas, short jobs and careers.  Every step that I took was a step in the direction of living my dream job where I am right now and producing a book.  Many people helped me along the way from family to friends and literal strangers.  It took time for me to see that God had a plan for me and the struggles I went through was the path I needed to make in order to get to where He wanted me.

Love,

Mommy

*What struggles are you facing that you feel overwhelmed by? What are you going to do about them?  Share them with someone and gain perspective on them.  You might be surprised that they are not as bad as they first seem.
